Yokohama (横浜) is Japan's second largest city with a population of over three million. Yokohama is located less than half an hour south of Tokyo by train, and is the capital of Kanagawa Prefecture. Towards the end of the Edo Period (1603-1867), during which Japan maintained a policy of self-isolation, Yokohama's port was one of the first to be opened to foreign trade in 1859. Consequently, Yokohama quickly grew from a small fishing village into one of Japan's major cities. Until today, Yokohama remains popular among expats, has one of the world's largest chinatowns and preserves some former Western residences in the Yamate district.

The symbol of Yokohama which has existed for over 100 years. You may enjoy shopping, eating and observing the view of the bay. Cruises are also available to for visitors to enjoy a boating adventure! Breathtaking after-dark illumination creates a totally different atmosphere for the area. 100年以上もそこに佇む、横浜のシンボル。 ショッピングやお食事だけでなく、芝生のある広場からは港を眺めたりとできます。 クルーズもあり、夜にはライトアップされとても幻想的な風景が広がります。

The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is a cultural and commercial facility . That utilizes two historical buildings constructed more than a century ago. It was built as a government bonded warehouse during the Meiji and Taisho eras and, as Japan’s first modern port facility, played an important role in the nation’s development. It stopped being used as a warehouse in 1989, later undergoing nine years of conservation and renovation work until reopening in 2002 as a cultural and commercial facility. --------------- 横浜の象徴的な保存建造物で、今はレストランやお土産屋さんなど、多数の楽しいお店がいっぱい入っています。 横浜に来たら必ず行くべき観光スポットです。
