This is some kind of ecological desination type place. There's a fee by carload to get in but so worth it. The "beach" consists of perfectly formed round black balls that were lava bubbles from millions of years ago. Don't take any of the lava balls! It's literally a federal offense. There's park rangers watching. This is the most bizarre "beach" you'll ever visit. Can be difficult to walk on though and tons of stairs going down to beach. Also there are unbelievable tidepools with colorful starfish, sea urchins and anemones. Bring rubber boots! More accessible is the lighthouse with a spectacular view of the ocean. You might even see spouting migrating whales! About a 3 hour drive.
