Take the Sand track walk through the forest and admire the complex forest and wildlife at Seven Mile Beach National Park. Pack a picnic lunch, and enjoy sweeping views at the end. This area hosts many species including nocturnal wildlife such as owls and the endangered Greater Glider.

Only 8km from Berry to the mid-point of 7 Mile Beach (known as Berry beach to the locals). Great swimming, hiking and picnic spot. Head to the northern end at Gerroa to get out of the wind and for calm swimming in the lagoon. The southern end is Shoalhaven Heads where the Shoalhaven River meets the sea. The whole beach is great for walking or running along.

THE SAND TRACK (SOUTH) National Park, near Nowra, where you can go fishing, swimming, birdwatching and picnic. The Sand track walk (south) starts from the southern end of the Beach Road picnic area, and takes you through forested hind dunes running parallel to the beach. Easy enough for the whole family, this level walk wanders among the forest of majestic tall blackbutt trees, a reminder of the forests that were widespread along the coast until 200 years ago. There are also patches of rare bangalay sand forest and littoral rainforest along the way. After a short time, you’ll emerge at the middle of Seven Mile Beach, halfway between Gerroa and Shoalhaven Heads. Here, you can admire the golden stretch of beach stretching out in both directions. Enjoy a swim here before retracing your step or and wander back along the beach, enjoying the sea breeze before sitting down for a picnic at Beach Road picnic area.

Walking the 7 miles to Shoalhaven Heads leads you directly to Bangalay restaurant. Remember to exit at the surf life saving pavilion. In addition there is a walking path through the forest which is parallel to the beach. Perfect for birdwatching, or as an alternate route back to Gerroa. You can also bike along this path.
