The Thoen Stone is a historic item from an early party of American explorers to enter the Black Hills. They actually explored the area prior to the 1874 Custer Expedition, but they did not live to tell the tale. They did carve part of their story in rock before perishing,. Life was hard in the pioneer west--visit the Thoen stone marker to find out more!
