Rauðisandur (Red Sand Beach) is a large, lightly red coloured sand beach (from which it derives it's name). Rich birdlife and great hiking. Tours to a seal colony are on offer in the area. Best visited on low tide. Distance from Grjóthólar: 43 km/26 mi

A beautiful, red sand beach. The road that takes you there can be a bit scary, but just take it slow and be careful. It's worth it!
