Adjacent to the former Paardeberg FPA Office, Bowwood offers self-directed walks around the base of the Paardeberg, free to paying guests, or physically-demanding guided walks up the mountain (R250 pp for minimum group of 8 or R2000). At the winery you will see some pictures of our most endangered species to know what to look out for in this spectacular Critical Biodiversity area of Fynbos. From the peak (approximate 3 hour walk) you will see False Bay and spectacular views of the entire region to Hangklip in the South, and the Groot Winterhoek beyond Tulbagh to the North. Hikes up the Paardeberg are not for the fainthearted.... bring hiking boots, hats, sunscreen and water!!
