Hiking Trails - We have provided a book of local hiking trails for your use (on kitchen counter). Please return the book when you are done with it so that future guests may enjoy it. Shaver Lake Volunteers have created a map (with descriptions) of many trails directly around Shaver Lake. This map can be found in the appendix. Trail Recommendation: Balsam Forebay Balsam Forebay is one of our family’s favorite hikes that everyone ages 2-75 can enjoy together (i.e. good for all skill levels). A 1.1 mile out and back trail that features a lake Directions: Continue on Highway 168 North until you reach the Balsam Forebay Sno-Park Parking lot (on the left). Trail begins at parking lot. Parking lot has public restrooms available.
