If I could create a perfect bookstore, it would be just like Bookmarks. I go there less than I like because I can't resist buying an armload of books every time I'm there! Plus, it's a non-profit that supports an annual festival of books and authors + other events. Check out the Footnote Café, attached next door.

Lovely bookstore in downtown Winston Salem. As a bonus, there's a coffee shop/bar attached to it.

Bookmarks is an amazing nonprofit that runs a surprisingly well-curated retail store downtown. They do many things to promote literacy in the schools, but their downtown store competes with the best of them!
