Groombridge Place is a moated Manor house in the village of Groombridge, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, noted for its formal gardens, vineyards. It also has a bird of prey sanctuary - 'The Raptor Centre'. The manor house has an associated Dower House. Groombridge Place was also location for the filming of : Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice, in which Groombridge appears as Longbourn, the home of the Bennet family (2005). The 1982 Peter Greenaway film, The Draughtsman's Contract was filmed at Groombridge in the formal gardens and maze of Groombridge Place Garden. The 2009 BBC production of The Day of the Triffids used this location for Shirning, Bill Masen's father's home.

This is another lovely family day out, just a 10 minute drive away. You can take a river barge in to the forest and explore pirate ships, high swings and tree top walks.

A wonderful place to catch an event, or just walk around the gardens. The Draughtsman's Contract, one of the great films of Derek Jarman was made here.
