There are some great cycle routes around Whitstable including the ionic 'Crab and Winkle' cycle route into the iconic city of Canterbury (around 7 miles way) and the longer Viking Trail which takes you along the coast past Herne Bay to Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs.

Hire a bicycle from here or at the Canterbury branch. There is a cycle route from Whitstable to Canterbury through the woods and along the seafront from Whitstable to Herne Bay. www.kentcyclehire.com

The Crab and Wrinkle Way is an excellent 7.5-mile (12 km) mainly traffic-free route between Canterbury and Whitstable. Passing through beautiful countryside and woodlands including Blean Woods. Kent Cycle Hire is based at 61 Harbour Street. Pre booking required on 01227 388 058
